Christmas Cookies

One of the things I have missed so much with being so busy with Patches Of Light is being able to bake, share special fellowship time with friends, things that working 14 hours a day doesn’t allow. However, I have been praying to find the joy in my life that I felt when I first began Patches Of Light and it’s amazing that opening my heart to the joy has brought me so many blessings! I am looking past the business part of it, and finding the joy of it again. Today a dear, dear friend brought me a plate of homemade Christmas cookies. To some it may seem simple, but it’s the simple things that I desperately need again in my life. I have had so many blessings. These last several weeks, a dear friend/relative made a donation to Patches Of Light that I had to look at five or six times, (another dear lady also made one that I had to sit down to absorb), a foundation that has been so good to us was good to us again and I actually cried on the phone with gratitude, a family took their hard earned money and kept a family off the streets and another one fed them, and then to get this plate of cookies just really topped off my joy for the week. Thank you to everyone who has been bringing me patches of light! Nonprofit work is hard, it’s emotional, it will tear your heart out one minute and frustrate you to no end in the next. These last few months have really shown me where I need to go, to follow my heart and choose the road less traveled because there is where you will find the joy, hope, and courage that other roads don’t lead to. So thank you, thank you, thank you to those who are lighting my path as I navigate the past 25 years of nonprofit. Here’s to another 25 years of nonprofit, here’s to another year of good friends, fellowship, and joy.
